No, this is not a dating event. Dinners With Friends is focused purely on platonic friendships and community connection. The goal is to make new friends and expand your social circle in a relaxed, pressure-free environment.

Who comes along to these dinners?

All sorts — that's rather the point. Singles, couples, empty nesters, people new to the area and people who've been here forever. Ages and backgrounds vary from table to table; what everyone shares is a love of good food and the intention to meet new people.

Can I bring a friend?

You're welcome to bring a friend, partner, or family member. Many people find it easier to attend with someone they know, especially for their first event. Just make sure to book a ticket for each person attending.

Do I have to come with someone?

Not at all — most of our guests come alone, and it's arguably the best way to experience it. Every table is hosted, introductions are made for you, and everyone else is there to meet new people too.

I'm introverted, is this still for me?

Many of our regular guests describe themselves as introverts. Our hosts are skilled at facilitating conversation and making sure everyone feels included. We also use conversation cards to help break the ice, so you never have to worry about awkward silences.

At hand-picked partner restaurants across Devon — Exeter and the surrounding towns. Each event page lists the venue along with how to get there, and you can browse dinners by city or venue to find one near you.

How do I book a seat at a dinner?

Create a free account, browse the upcoming events, and reserve your spot using credits. You'll receive a booking confirmation email with the date, time, venue and its contact details — everything you need for the night.

Do I get anything for signing up?

Yes — new accounts receive welcome credits to put towards a first booking. Signing up is free and all you need is an email address; no card details required.

How much do credits cost?

Credits cost £1 each, with better value when you buy in bulk. Check our credits page for current pricing and pack options.

What do credits cover?

Your credits reserve your seat at the dinner. Food and drinks are ordered and paid for separately at the venue, just like you would if dining with friends.

Do credits expire?

No! Your credits never expire. Buy them when it suits you and use them whenever you're ready to join a dinner.

Credit purchases are handled securely at checkout by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.

Yes — share the referral code from your profile page. When a friend signs up with it they receive bonus credits to get started, and once they attend their first dinner you receive bonus credits too.

Are there any refunds?

Credits cannot be refunded for cash once purchased - all credit sales are final. However, your credits never expire, so you can always use them for future events.

What should I expect during the dinner?

Expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere with 10-12 guests at your table. Our host will greet you, make introductions, and help facilitate conversation. Dinner typically lasts 2-3 hours, giving you plenty of time to get to know your fellow diners.

What happens when I arrive?

Just give your name — there are no tickets or QR codes to show. Your host will welcome you, show you to the table and make the introductions. From there, the evening takes care of itself.

We recommend smart casual attire. Think of it as dressing for a nice dinner out with friends. There's no need to be overly formal, but we do ask guests to make a bit of effort as it adds to the atmosphere.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Our partner restaurants can typically accommodate dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and most allergies. Please contact the restaurant directly in advance of the event to discuss your needs — their contact details are included in your booking confirmation.

Do I have to drink alcohol?

Not at all. You order whatever you like from the menu — alcoholic or not — and pay the venue directly, just like any other meal out. Nobody is counting.
