Well over a hundred guests have pulled up a chair so far, and most arrive alone. By dessert, nobody is.

We host at restaurants we'd book for our own birthdays — from riverside spots on the Quay to neighbourhood favourites and the occasional grand dining room. Never drinks-and-mingle in a noisy bar: always a proper sit-down dinner where conversation has room to happen.
“Lots of laughter, sharing of life's experiences and huge fun” is how Mike put it after his first dinner. Emma called it “the perfect way to connect with the community.” Most of our guests are in their forties, fifties and sixties — new in town, newly retired, newly single, or simply after some better evenings out.
