The kitchen is a proper one rather than a crisp rack: the published menu runs to burgers, southern fried chicken strips and a chickpea curry that is both vegan and gluten free, with cocktails, milkshakes and craft beer.
Our verdict: the three-hour cap is the detail worth planning around. It is plenty for two or three lighter games and a meal, but not for a heavy strategy game plus dinner, so if your group wants something long, book early in the evening and start the big game first. Board is also the easiest place in the city to take someone who "doesn't really play games" because the staff do the teaching for you.

This session used to be described as weekly. It is not: the group's Meetup series now lists it on the first Sunday of the month only, with dates running into early 2027. It starts later than the White Hart session, at 2pm, and the organisers describe it as opening with a quick, light game while people arrive before moving on to something meatier.
Our verdict: a good option if the 12:30pm start does not suit, or if you live on the Blackboy Road / Mount Pleasant side of the city. Just put the date in your diary, because turning up on the wrong Sunday will find nobody there.
Blood on the Clocktower nights
The same group runs a monthly Friday Blood on the Clocktower session at The White Hart. It is a social deduction game for a large group led by a Storyteller, and it is capped at 15 players, so the group asks you to RSVP on Meetup and cancel if your plans change. If you enjoy Werewolf or Mafia-style games, this is the most distinctive event in Exeter's gaming calendar.
Exeter Board Gamers is volunteer-run. The organiser asks members for a voluntary annual contribution to cover the group's Meetup fees. It is not a condition of attending, but it keeps the group listed.
